From your messages and feedback we kept hearing the same thing: you dream of a hobby horse that will help you conquer the very highest obstacles. Greater heights in hobby horsing simply require a special model — one that is incredibly lightweight while still keeping the elegance and the advantages of our larger, heavier horses.
So we said: Challenge accepted!
But at that moment, we had no idea what a tough nut it would be to crack.

The challenge of the open mouth and the fight for every gram
All of our hobby horses are handmade from very high-quality, durable fabrics. Every stitch is created by the incredibly skilled hands of people with disabilities — mostly ladies who are now proud grandmothers.
Reducing the pattern so the horse would weigh as little as possible while still keeping the beautiful, noble shape of an adult horse’s head was a real challenge. We kept weighing the horses, redesigning the patterns, and adjusting every detail to save each and every gram.
The biggest test for our seamstresses, however, was the open mouth of the sport pony. In this smaller version the mouth is so tiny that pushing an adult hand all the way in and stuffing it perfectly required almost superhuman effort and enormous patience. But our ladies in the workshop handled it brilliantly!
Fun crash tests and the dream of a detachable stick
And our adventure didn’t end there. We wanted to keep one of the most practical features — the detachable stick. But in our effort to minimize the weight, we also had to reduce the diameter of the stick itself. And that meant a huge problem: where could we get a thread that small, yet completely safe and strong?
We tried different methods and materials. Based on one recommendation, we even decided to 3D-print the thread 😱. As you can probably guess, that was not a good choice. After a few energetic (and, we admit, quite entertaining) crash tests right in our workshop 😆, the printed thread didn’t survive.
We were disappointed and our dream seemed further away again. Everyone felt a bit sad, but giving up was not an option. In the end, one of our employees saved the day with a brilliant solution. He designed a lightweight yet extremely strong thread that successfully passed all stress tests — from our creative ladies in the workshop to the tough testing by the talented girls in our JUHI hobby horsing sports club in Hluboká nad Vltavou.
The result was absolutely worth it. The effort paid off, and after more than half a year of development, our new sport pony is finally here. ❤️

Fans of spotted horses can welcome the black-and-white Dakota or the cheerful Monty into their stable. The classic bay is represented by the elegant Terra.
